But too often there simply isn't enough time for yourself, you don’t know the right things to eat, and your body is feeling the seemingly unavoidable effects of getting older.

Years before my children were even born, I was 35+ lbs overweight, my joints and body ached regardless if I was moving or sitting still, and I was tired aalllll the time. I remember thinking to myself that this must be how it feels to be in your 80’s. Except I was in my early 30’s.
I was easily and quickly out of breath from barely doing anything at all. I was often sick and sometimes hospitalized with awful bouts asthmatic bronchitis. I longed to feel and look young again, but it hardly seemed possible and I didn’t know how to turn things around.
I tried working out with a personal trainer who worked me so hard, I felt like I was training for the Olympics. I dropped weight for sure, but it wasn’t sustainable. Once she wasn’t around any longer, I gained the weight back quickly.
But it was a step. I knew I was capable of getting strong and building up my endurance. I just didn’t know how to do it without pushing myself like I was an army cadet.
I tried numerous diets and workouts on my own, all of which worked to some extent, but none made up the long-term lifestyle I was looking for. I wanted to enjoy my workouts, feel like I was really making progress, and be free to eat in a way that didn’t leave me feeling hungry or deprived.
I completely aged myself backwards to my early 30's again (I’ve even been mistaken for being in my 20’s), even though I’m now in my mid-40’s. I continued educating myself, eventually becoming a nationally certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and fitness nutrition specialist. I found how the right foods and the right exercise at the right times could help me reach my health and fitness goals in a way that I could sustain and enjoy.
